Privacy policy

GIF Downloader is a browser-based video downloader and GIF maker. You do not need an account.

Local files: videos and GIFs opened from your device, generated frames and exported GIFs are processed in your browser. We do not upload them. They are cleared when the page is reloaded or the tab is closed.

Social links: when you submit a public post URL, our Cloudflare Worker or your browser sends it to the relevant download provider (X syndication, ssstwitter / twittervideodownloader, ConvertICO / Brandbird, getmyfb / fdownloader.online / clipssaver, ssstik / betterutils or VideoDropper / igexport / clipssaver, ThreadsDL / SaveThr, RapidSave). These providers and the source platform receive the request and apply their own privacy policies. Media is streamed through our service and is not stored in a media library.

Service data: Cloudflare processes network data such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the service. We record minimal operational events: processing stage, platform, success or failure, error code and elapsed time. Our application event logs do not include your full post URLs, media tokens, local file names or file contents. Rate limiting uses your IP address without adding it to application event logs. Operational event counts are aggregated by minute in Cloudflare D1 and retained for approximately 30 days. Submitted HTTP(S) links are also stored for about 30 days to diagnose resolution failures, with credentials, tracking parameters and fragments removed; Facebook video IDs are retained.

Analytics: The production website uses Google Analytics 4 and first-party cookies to measure page visits, traffic sources, devices, session engagement and tool steps (video requests, conversion outcomes and download clicks). Ad personalization and automatic form, download and video-interaction tracking are disabled. We do not send post URLs, media tokens, local filenames or file contents to Analytics. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments; external referrers contain only their origin. Analytics is not loaded when your browser enables Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Google processes the collected analytics information under its privacy policy.

Preferences and advertising: your selected theme is saved in local browser storage. The site displays Adsterra ads in isolated frames. Adsterra and its advertising partners may receive your IP address, browser information and referring site, and may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. Advertising requests do not include your local files or the post URL entered in the tool. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
